Use Case: Sensor Integrated Rolling Elements

A great example for integrated sensing is our use case Contactless measurement of rolling element rotary motion.

We developed a measuring system for wireless monitoring of rolling element rotational movements that is completely encapsulated in a rolling element, including battery. Although the rolling element is fully sealed and surrounded by a lot of metal and lubricant in the bearing, our wireless measurement system provides reliable data.

  • two interconnected boards integrated into a rolling element in a very small installation space
  • a power management board for inductive battery charging
  • a sensor board with sensor and radio module
  • high-performance MEMS sensor technology measuring rolling element rotation (acceleration, rotation rate and magnetic field sensors)
  • wireless data transmission via integrated antenna using nemi Link 2400 radio technology to our compact receiver nemi Connect
  • data pre-evaluation using edge computing to reduce data overload and increase battery life
