To enable wireless measurement of vibrations and shocks, i4M technologies has made nemi DAQ compatible with geophones. This saves a considerable amount of cabling and offers a wide range of applications for measurements that were previously difficult or even impossible.
Compatibility of nemione products with geophones
Thanks to the compatibility of nemi DAQ and nemi DAQ nano with geophones, vibration measurements can be carried out at sampling rates of up to 1.3 kHz (triaxial) or up to 6.4 kHz (uniaxial). In combination with a battery extension (power bank), nemi DAQ with a geophone is even suitable for long-term vibration measurements. Due to the 24-bit sampling of nemi DAQ, very high resolutions of even the smallest seismic events can be recorded with geophones.
With the nemione receiver modules (USB receiver nemi Connect, data logger nemi Log, 4G-Gateway nemi EdgeBase), measurement data is displayed live, logged on SD card or uploaded to a cloud via cellular radio.
Applications of wireless vibration measurement with geophones
Wireless measurement technology offers immense advantages, especially where cable laying is difficult or impossible. Here are some examples of applications:
- Vibration measurements on railroad tracks: Monitoring vibrations on railroad tracks is crucial to ensure the safety and condition of the infrastructure. Wireless geophones allow flexible and uncomplicated installation along and across the tracks.
- Monitoring during blasting: During controlled blasting, whether in mining or construction projects, it is important to monitor vibrations to prevent damage to surrounding structures. The flexibility of wireless geophones allows for quick and precise placement at the necessary measurement points.
- Industrial applications in factories: In production facilities where machines and equipment are constantly in motion, vibration measurements can help to optimize maintenance work and avoid unplanned downtime. Wireless systems offer a simple solution to collect data in remote or difficult to access locations (e.g. across multiple floors).
Conclusion:
Wherever access is difficult, be it in remote areas or in large structures, wireless geophones offer a reliable method of measuring vibrations and shocks.
