Onboard data for the detection of track defects – mFUND Conference

Damage to the track network often leads to squeaking and jerking streetcars as well as costly damage to the vehicles. To avoid this, the aim is to enable condition-based and cost-efficient maintenance of the track infrastructure in the future. Together with our project partners, the German Aerospace Center and the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology, we are researching suitable AI methods for automatic data analysis.

The task of i4M technologies GmbH is the realization of a self-sufficient measurement system with high performance and the implementation of the developed, complex AI algorithms at the edge (in the vehicle).

Martin Noll presented the measurement system and the latest results at the annual mFUND conference in December 2023. We don’t want to withhold the details from you. Take a look at the presentation.

The project is funded by the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport via the mFUND funding program.
